Zombie's Retreat is an action RPG involving a young man on a summer camping retreat. What's intended to be a bonding experience turns horribly wrong when a sudden evil outbreak spreads across the camp. With very 'strange' circumstances surrounding this new found threat, it is up to the player to save any and all survivors while attempting to escape in one piece!
Zombie's Retreat takes place in the same universe as my current/main project, Town of Passion! Expect some cross over as well as story references from that project!

v0.8.1 Beta Public This update adds NSFW content to two characters: Jenny & Meredith! Meredith receives a small new questline after her main story is complete while Jenny receives a proper conclusion to her main story!
The NW corner of the West District has received some modifications. These new areas are very important for the new quests in Beta 0.8 as well as some upcoming content.
Difficulty options are now available with a choice of Easy or Normal mode! (Hardcore will come at a later date.) Transferred save files will be asked to choose their difficulty the first time you enter The Grid.
Easy mode also has the ability to activate Cheat mode. The journal in your bedroom will have the ability to toggle invincibility mode & no water/food demands. However, this will label your save file as "Cheat" as a small repercussion.
I'm hoping these changes add a bit more accessibility for those who enjoy the world of ZR2 but don't necessarily want to struggle surviving in it.

== Pictures/Camera ==
The camera feature has been added to Zombie's Retreat 2, offering a new gallery that you can unlock pictures for as you interact with the survivors of Crimson City!
To find the camera, you will need to trade with the new mysterious dealer who can now be found south of the Medical District. Once obtained, the camera may snap a bonus picture during certain NSFW scenes offering a little more context and views to existing scenes.
At the time of this update, only one picture exists but there will be many more added!
(Note: The gallery size can't be changed after a save is made. To compensate, the gallery holds 50 pictures... it is highly unlikely I will hit 50 pictures by the end of ZR2)
== Fast Travel/Bus Stops ==
The bus stop system from Zombie's Retreat 1 makes a return now in Crimson City! Bus stops can be found in various areas of the city and once unlocked, you can instantly travel between discovered bus stops with ease.
This will also mark the first time you can go to the East & West Districts in one scavenge session!
In a future update, a buildable bus stop will be added to The Grid so you can fast travel to even further points of the city with ease.

== Content Update == Beta 0.6 focuses almost entirely on concluding the main portion of Meredith's story! When the dangerous threats of Crimson City become reality, it's important to remember those who push you to keep moving forward. I hope you enjoy the conclusion to the first character story in ZR2! Meredith will continue to receive new events & scenes in future updates!
Additionally, the subway system has finally been implemented at a basic level. I plan to improve and tweak it over time but this will be an important way for reaching some new districts in the future.
With the introduction of the subway system complete, the Hospital District is now accessible. This district will be built upon in future updates as well so while it's a little empty now, that should change over time.

Beta 0.5.2 This update introduces the beginning's of Olivia's storyline as well as finishes up the base functionality for Stacy's Diner!
I mentioned a bit before during the $5+ Patron release but this update is one that in general I wasn't super pleased with. I feel the past few updates haven't had a satisfactory amount of NSFW content and have focused too much on game mechanics. But still, I think fans of Olivia may enjoy the start of what's to come and those who enjoy deeper gameplay elements may enjoy the improvements that milkshakes can add.
For Beta 0.6, my plan is to hit the ground running with a proper focus update. I'd really like to finally introduce that 'home run' moment with Meredith! I'll make a post detailing my plans for that very soon. NSFW content & story are the primary focus moving into 2022.

Beta 0.4 splits most of it's attention between the main story & Meredith's personal story. When you have rescued atleast 2 new women, you should experience a cutscene when you go to sleep. This cutscene will lead you into the first major quest for progressing the main story of the game. For Meredith, her content continues where her previous update left off at. Continue to talk with her and see what new events await!
== New Resolution == Probably the most noticeable part of this update is the fact that the game is now featured in larger screen size! The character busts & artwork were all re-done to prevent any upscaled quality loss so the images should look a bit more crisp and clear on your screens! There may be some slight hiccups with some maps & other details since I often hide things offscreen that normally wouldn't be viewable so I will monitor and check for any of these issues.
== New Weapon == The shotgun makes a return in this update finally allowing you a second weapon to use! The shotgun has a bit more utility in this game compared to ZR1 as it has the ability to kill most zombies in one shot. It's meant to be a more expensive but effective method at clearing out zombies. You can find this new weapon during the new main questline content.
== Stereo/Music Control == I'm still experimenting with a default song that I think properly represents the feeling that I want to convey in The Grid. There is a new constructable object that will allow you to customize which song plays in your home base. For those that prefer the nostalgic ZR1 music, that can be selected. Future songs will likely be added along with the ability to change what music plays when exploring outside.

Jenny's story- I'm curious how people think of the take I went with on the early part of her story. With ZR2, I want the dialogue to feel a little more real & meaningful so hopefully the emotions that Jenny struggles with show up a little bit here. It's tricky trying to establish characters & backgrounds while still keeping things a bit more brief. Hopefully I did an okay job with that in this case.
As far as new features & maps go, there's a good chunk of new areas to explore here. Most of the new areas are set up to be expanded upon later as well. The park for instance is pretty small but my plan is to add a whole section that'll likely be a mini-dungeon essentially. I recommend checking out the changelog (included with the PC download) if you want to find all of the new content right away.
I know Stacy fans will probably wish to see a bit more content for her. I was hoping to get that early start but if you missed my last post, I need more time to focus on the facility itself and then her story can be intertwined with the diner. But, this update really shows off what The Grid is meant to do and the ability to place buildings down is now figured out!
In the future, I'm working heavily towards preventing the need to wait 4 months for another update. The NSFW content, the main roadblock causing the delay is something that is already well under way for Beta 0.4!

Beta 0.2 begins to get the ball rolling with the main content of Zombie's Retreat 2, starting with Meredith.
This update begins some of her early quest/storyline so there is finally a little bit of NSFW content added to the game. Her story is by no means completed yet so there's still more to come but I really wanted to have H content finally available.
== The Grid Functionality ==
Behind the scenes, this is probably the highlight of this update. A lot of time was spent trying to figure out how to properly convey a clean and logical menu system for building new buildings, editing previous structures, and assigning quests to items within The Grid's functionality.
With this update, Fiona's Day 2 quest now can be completed and this gives a little tease as to how you will be able to build and edit buildings/facilities in future updates!
Meredith's questline also has some ties to this new system. I hope I've done a satisfactory job making sure this system feels easy to understand!
== Olivia Recruitable ==
I've added the first new rescuable woman to the game, Olivia. Olivia is very similar to Caroline in Zombie's Retreat 1 as far as her 'role' to the main character. You can customize her role to your liking.
When recruited, she will occupy the empty room in your upstairs. Future rescuable women will instead move into the motel to the North East of your town home.
Her recruitment cutscenes also varies slightly if you have specific allies in your party! This should help keep the interactions a little more natural.
v1.0.2 This update is mostly for bug fixing. There were a few more issues that players had pointed out to me as well as some minor things I noticed that needed some tidying up. With this update, ZR is looking mostly cleaned up so I wouldn't expect too many more updates, especially so soon.

== Content Update == This update adds the third costume pack/event into the game! The Summer Event is intended to be a late/post-game event so you will need to have your save file far along to progress. If you are unsure of where to find this costume pack, there is an upstairs section to the Town Hall in Old Town that opens up after you finish the quest with Talia. This secret area will have what you're looking for! This update is indeed a short one. The intention was to provide myself a bit of a mental break after finishing up the main story but it also goes with the theme of this event which is to just sit back, relax, and enjoy all of the progress you made in ZR! In addition, I also added a minor event in Jessie's camp if you examine the bag just north of her. This is the other Z-Choice that I had been mentioning would be added. This one is significantly less important but does provide just slightly more information about the zombies if you are curious. (IMPORTANT: This is NOT the final update! Receiving questions about that. At the moment, I plan to have two more updates to ZR1 before it's finished. You can stay up to date about those releases on the Zombie's Retreat Patreon page.)

== Difficulty == I added 3 difficulty options to Zombie's Retreat! There is Easy, Standard, and Hardcore.
Easy: Meant for players who aren't as interested in playing the game and want to experience the scenes. This difficulty allows you to use an OPTIONAL cheat station where you can give yourself a bunch of ammo & resources to avoid scavenging.
Standard: The default intended way to play. The same game that you all have been used to!
Hardcore: Intended for fans looking for a challenge. Resource consumption is stronger, health upgrades are unavailable.
IMPORTANT: The difficulties WILL be tweaked over time. I'll gauge feedback on areas that feel too difficult, too easy, or not challenging enough given the right criteria. Expect areas of the game to change over time on both Easy & Hardcore.
== *Vending Machine == A new feature has been added in this update. There is a newly installed vending machine in the Camp Zomi lodge found in Old Town! Found around Zomi through sidequests or hidden areas are Vending Tokens. You can redeem these at the vending machine and receive bonus photos to your photo album! These pictures will be reserved for certain fan art pieces or special drawings featuring one or more characters from Zombie's Retreat!

== Content Update == This update adds a bonus costume event! In celebration of the fall/spooky season, there are new costumes to find and new quests to complete! To begin, the hotel in Old Town can now be accessed. In order to break through the gate, you'll need a saw strong enough to cut through metal. Maybe that can be crafted? When the hero and some of his housemates decide to hold a spooky themed party, some oddities occur along the way. It's now up to you to save your world from certain disaster! But don't forget to collect some candy along the way.
== Costume Overhaul == I've gone through and changed the functionality of costumes. Now, when you change a character's costume, they'll (usually) wear it throughout the day. This allows you to explore with them in their outfits to find different scavenging rewards. Some quests or events won't be accessible with these costumes equipped. Other scenes & events may just default to their original costume in some cases. If you notice any oddities with the costumes, please let me know. There's a lot of 'what-if' moments that are easy to overlook by adding costume changes.

== Content Update == This update is more of an interrim build that introduces a new cameo side quest: Clara from ScarlettAnn's Milf Airline series! Due to mysterious reasons Clara is stuck in Camp Zomi. It's your job to show her around the camp until she finds a way back home! Clara's story will be updated occasionally with new scenes replacing the role of another previous woman in various locations around Camp Zomi. If there's enough demand, I may add a new unique scene or two with her as well in the future!
NOTE: As mentioned, this is an interrim build meaning it bridges the gap between the next major build. Originally a Halloween build was planned but due to scheduling conflicts, that build is coming up next!
The other update is a new interaction around the house. If you need a hint to start it, remember that without an air conditioner, people won't feel as comfortable in their rooms.
== Voice Update! == I'm happy to announce that both OolayTiger and Miss Moonified will be joining the Zombie's Retreat team by adding their talents to the voices of the women in Camp Zomi!
Currently, I'm only bringing in voices that were originally from Town of Passion which are currently all done by Oolay. However, both Oolay and Mooni are in the middle of making original audio for two(+) characters in ZR so they will be added in soon! Also, just Clara has the new voice for now. I'm still trying to match voices with characters to make sure everyone sounds right.
Scenes will sound a bit higher quality now with a bit more of a unique tone/sound between most characters ;)

0.7.4 Hey guys!
I uploaded a new update that aims to hopefully fix two issues.
1- A large amount of users were having their antivirus software flag the build. This was a false flag but none the less, for many it was automatically deleted the game and making this a huge pain to deal with. I believe I fixed it by simply removing the extra files from the 'www' folder. Weirdest solution but in private testing it seems to have worked so.... ya. >_>
2- Some users are having null width errors on PC still. I am trying to make subtle changes to the scene player in hopes that one or many of these changes help minimize or remove the issue entirely. I made a tweak to every single scene that attempts to fix this so I will be keeping an eye out for more reports on this crash.
I don't want to confirm that these issues are fixed with this build but it's a start. I have other ideas that I may try as well to help fix these problems.

There was a pesky glitch with the garden and a possible sequence break preventing the new content with Leslie so this build fixes both of those. If you are transferring old saves, they should fix these issues so there should be no need to restart your save. HOWEVER, you must step outside of the lodge to 'fix' your save file. It's automatic so simply stepping outdoors for a sec will do all that's needed!

== Story Update == The focus of this update is on Caroline's story! If you've already completed the previous Caroline content, you will miss some slight dialogue updates but overall, you can resume where you left off without an issue!
== Old Town Explorable == The third and final major zone in Camp Zomi is now able to be explored! Old Town is the third section of the camp and will primarily involve late game content for the main story and certain characters. For now, it's HEAVILY incomplete with little to do but I figured some of you may want to explore it early and it is nice having the whole loop completed on the map.

== New Item: Photo Album == The photo album is a bonus key item that you can place photos in after collecting or, in the future, taking them through secret objectives. The point of the album is to provide a bonus 'collectable' of sorts in the game. For all new files, the story has been updated for Day 1 to receive the item. For any transferred files, the item will be added to your inventory when you stand outside of the lodge.
This item will be expanded upon in the future!
== Campfires == The empty fire pits around the camp can now be interacted with if you have Scrap Wood. Lighting a fire and sitting next to an adjacent tile will slowly refill your health. There may be more interactive elements with campfires in the future!
== Updates to Scene Player == In B0.5, I updated the Scene Player to allow scenes to run more efficiently reducing crashes and load errors. As of B0.6, all scenes new&old have been converted to this new scene player.
The following older scenes have been converted in Beta 0.6:

The public release is finally here for ZR Beta 0.5. This update brings a few new gameplay changes that help improve the pace of combat. On top of that, the plot is finally starting to move forward a bit as you learn more about what's happened in Camp Zomi while getting caught in the usual naughty adventures!

== Story Update == The focus of this update is on the continued progression for the main story! If you've already recruited Natasha, begin by talking to her and the build's new content should follow.
== Weapon Swap == I added a weapon swap button (defaults to Page Down/W) that will allow you to switch your weapons while out exploring. This should be much easier than going back into the menu and manually equipping weapons. The HUD has also been updated to show which weapon you have equipped.
A heal option was included as well (Patron's suggestion!). If you have a medical herb and/or medkit, it will be selectable and will default to a medical herb first, and then a medkit if you've run out.
== Zombie Sound Effects == I added sound effects to each zombie when you damage them. There is an unfortunate side effect for old save files, however:
For the FIRST time you reach every area where you have previously killed zombies, you will hear the death sound effect. This is a ONE TIME thing per location so don't worry that your save is broken. New saves will be completely unaffected.
== New Zombie Type == The Lakeside area has a new zombie type with a unique effect. When you shoot them, you'll notice they stand still for a second. Maybe it's best to take a step back and see what's going to happen!

v0.2 If you were content with the original Alpha build, you don't need to download this version! It's minor bug fixing/testing Zombie's were a little wonky in their interaction because of a last minute "fix". Because of that, if you find any issues of soft locking when getting hit, please report it! If the game crashes for you at the name input screen, this should fix it. If you notice any oddities in cutscenes or wherever, please report them!
